I'm sure that when Tony Snow used the phrase "tarbaby" in a White House press conference, he was merely referencing the president's passionate interest in the novels of Toni Morrison and not, y'know, being all ignorant and racist and stupid. Nope, totally intentional literary analogy.



Maybe this is a new trend of African-American women novelists influencing national policy. I can't wait until a lonely female member in the throes of a midlife crisis trots out an argument for illegal immigration based on the sexiness of a hot Jamaican dude she met on vacation.
